    What This Is

Understanding fire extinguisher service & recharge

Fire extinguisher service includes annual certified maintenance (disassembly inspection, internal parts check, reassembly, and recharge), 6-year internal maintenance for certain types, and coordination of 12-year hydrostatic testing.

Recharging is performed when an extinguisher has been discharged (even partially), has lost pressure, or fails a pressure test during maintenance. We recharge on site when possible.

We do not sell new extinguishers. If a unit is damaged beyond service, we document it and recommend a supplier for replacement.

    What We Inspect

    Our inspection checklist

    • Full annual maintenance per NFPA 10 — disassembly, inspection, reassembly
    • Recharge of discharged or low-pressure units
    • 6-year internal maintenance (where required by extinguisher type)
    • Hydrostatic test coordination at 12-year intervals
    • New annual maintenance tag and inspection record
    • O-ring, hose, and nozzle condition
    • Pressure gauge replacement if defective

    Inspection frequency

NFPA 10 requires annual certified maintenance, 6-year internal maintenance for most dry chemical extinguishers, and 12-year hydrostatic testing. Monthly visual inspections are performed by building staff. Oklahoma enforces these intervals through the State Fire Marshal.
