This page covers inspection of existing fire alarm systems. Oklahoma City Fire Protection is an inspection-only company — we do not install, design, or sell fire alarm systems. What This Is

Understanding fire alarm system inspection (post-installation)

We inspect and test existing fire alarm systems to verify they meet current NFPA 72 requirements. This includes device-by-device functional testing, panel verification, and signal transmission testing.

We do not perform fire alarm installation, design, or sales. If your system is outdated, failing, or needs replacement, we provide a deficiency report and refer you to a licensed fire alarm contractor for the installation work.

If you've recently had a new system installed by a contractor, we can perform the acceptance inspection and documentation to confirm it was installed per NFPA 72 before your fire marshal's final walkthrough.

    What We Inspect

    Our inspection checklist

    • All initiating devices — detectors, pull stations, flow/tamper switches
    • All notification appliances — horns, strobes, speakers
    • Control panel programming and annunciation
    • Power supplies — primary and secondary (battery)
    • Wiring integrity and device addresses
    • Signal transmission to central station (if monitored)

    Inspection frequency

New or replacement fire alarm systems require an acceptance inspection before being placed in service. After that, NFPA 72 requires annual functional testing and quarterly visual inspections of key components.
